All the species of this genus, with some exceptions, have flowers with a funnel-shaped perigonium, ending with 6 lobes. At the insertion of these on the funnel-shaped portion, there is a cup-shaped, conical or hemispherical extension, called crown; the shape and size of the crown and lobes of the perigonum vary in the different species and varieties. They are all bulbous plants, most of them originating in Europe (Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Balkan countries).

Care: If it lives in the open ground, water occasionally during the vegetative months, approximately from April to October. If planted in pots, water regularly from March to October. Regularly remove faded flowers, unless you want to harvest the seeds. At the end of the vegetative cycle, in autumn, cut the aerial part that is drying up and that will throw back in spring. The operation can be delayed if the autumn foliage or withered inflorescences have an ornamental value.

Sowing: The best time to plant narcissus bulbs is from October to December, before the frosts arrive. The bulb should be buried with the head facing upwards at a depth of about 7-8 cm. The distance between one bulb and another must be at least 25 cm. If grown in pots, however, they can be clustered close together. In this way, a lush and beautiful plant can be obtained.
