Description:

The crocus is a bulbous herbaceous plant native to the East. Its leaves, very thin and dark green and shiny, are crossed by a white stripe in the center. The beautiful flowers, whose length varies from 8 to 15 cm, have the shape of a cup and are composed of 6 tepals.

Care:

Place the crocus bulbs in a cool and very bright place, preferably not in full sun for too many hours a day. The crocus fears only the coldest temperatures. A fairly moist soil is ideal for growing these bulbs, while the best time to plant them is autumn, from late September to mid-November. Bury the bulb at a depth of about 5 cm in the ground and about 5 cm away from each other. The crocus does not like excessive humidity: water it only in the hottest periods, waiting for the soil to dry completely between one irrigation and the other. When planting, you can use a slow-release fertilizer in the soil, but when you notice the first flowers wilt, use a specific fertilizer for bulbous plants: adding it to the water every 15-20 days, you will notice a prolongation of flowering. Crocus sieberi firefly (20): The crocus chrysanthus sieberi firefly has flowers with very delicate colors: the white base of the petal gradually fades into shades of pink and lilac, thus giving the flower a very elegant appearance.
