It is a perennial fern, epiphyte of the Aspleniaceae family. In nature it embellishes the rainforests and is therefore perfect for giving a touch of green to balconies, gardens and apartments with a size ranging from 50 to 100 cm. It is native to Japan, where it grows on tree branches and rocks in shady and humid conditions.

Asplenium Nidus is super easy to care for, strong and resistant to almost all types of pests and diseases.

The bird's nest fern is a plant native to tropical forests that absolutely does not tolerate direct sunlight! It needs to be kept moist, so you can regularly spray the leaves with rainwater. The curl of the leaves increases with the dryness of the air, it is an excellent signal to monitor the health of the plant. It prefers little fertilizer, so we recommend halving the dosage recommended on dry or liquid fertilizer packages for green houseplants.

CARE

For your Asplenium nidus choose a place that is warm, bright, but not in direct sunlight. If you keep it in a cool environment it will need less water. You can transfer it to a larger planter using humus-rich soil or place the pot as it is in a decorative planter. It adapts well to sandy soils rich in silt ranging from acidic to neutral. It needs little water and does not like stagnation.

Water it less during the winter, keeping it slightly drier. Wait for the arrival of spring to start watering and fertilizing it regularly.

Tips

It is said that Aspenium wanted to choose a season in which to bloom but there were peonies in spring, lotus flowers in summer, chrysanthemums in autumn and plums in winter. So he decided to remain evergreen.
