Annual climbing herbaceous plant that can reach several meters in length. It produces elongated and cylindrical fruits with an intense green first skin and a brown color when fully ripe, divided internally into three longitudinal cavities. When fully ripe, the pulp of the fruit changes and, from soft, it becomes fibrous and spongy inside. The fruit is hanging and, when fully ripe, opens in the upper part. We then proceed, through maceration in water, to the elimination of any residues of the porous part, of the peel and of the seeds. The loofah will then be ready to be used as a normal bath sponge.
