Gibbons are tree-dwelling monkeys. They are also referred to as little apes. The gibbon baby shows a light and dark coat color. Adult gibbons are darker. Striking is the white face mask.
The monkeys are distributed from Southeast Asia, China, Indochina and the Indonesian islands. Every two to three years a new gibbon baby is born. It clings with its long arms to the belly of the mother and can be carried around. Only as a young adult, the gibbon baby leaves his parents to start their own family.
